A Medical Practitioner with years of experience in consulting and private equity, Akshay brings an invaluable perspective to Oliver Wyman’s Health and Life Sciences Practice. His background grants him an in-depth understanding of the critical issues faced by the myriad of companies and organisations in the healthcare ecosystem.
As a Partner, Akshay is focused on corporate healthcare clients, spanning pharma, med-tech, health systems, providers, and digital health. Colleagues and clients alike value Akshay’s pragmatic and practical attitude. He supports his teams in getting to the root of the issue quickly and accurately, and effectively communicating the identified problem in a structured way. But it’s not all pen to paper work, Akshay notes. “The culture of the firm is not only hard working and intellectual, but collaborative, supportive, and fun.”
Clients value what we do and our truly collaborated approach. Coupled with our no-nonsense style, they can see that we work to get results, not just generate reports.
The “flexibility and ability to use cross-functional and industry expertise to help clients solve challenging problems” at Oliver Wyman was a major motivator for him to join. Another advantage, he notes, is “using Oliver Wyman’s deep industry verticals, functional expertise, and also our wider affiliated companies.”
A pivotal moment for Akshay was when his family moved abroad when he was 12 years old. “This changed the way for me - to think of the art of the possible and not only to reform to a single way of thinking,” he says.
In the future, Akshay plans to use this perspective to expand Oliver Wyman’s healthcare and life science practice to support a further range of European clients on various topics, in turn expanding the Oliver Wyman team and bringing in new capabilities.
Outside of the office, Akshay is a father to two children and enjoys playing squash and cycling, and sports (particularly cricket).
