Why Oliver Wyman?I joined as an experienced hire from another consultancy. I was attracted to Oliver Wyman’s culture and the growth opportunities it offered. I knew I wanted to become a Partner in the Retail & Business Banking practice, and I have.
Journey to partnerMy path to Partner was expedited given my previous experience. The firm is unusually transparent and meritocratic with respect to its promotion process, and provides an excellent, supportive environment that gives people the opportunity to succeed. I have been fortunate along with a number of colleagues to help establish our expertise in many of the mortgage operations issues that have arisen as a result of the financial and real estate crises.
Balancing professional & personalI have young children and OW was very supportive of me when I transitioned back to work on the timing that worked for me. I actually was promoted to Partner while out on maternity leave! I consider my greatest personal achievement to be working full-time and raising twins while maintaining my sanity.
Outside of client workI think the most important thing is providing informal mentorship to other consultants as they make their way through the ranks and navigate various career and project issues. I try to make myself available to talk with my teams and other consultants at any time. More broadly, outside of OW, I have always been involved in dance in various forms. I also like to collect art (though it’s a small collection), and I am passionate about gardening--though these days that interest is primarily satisfied by visiting Central Park.
