Claude Théberge is a consultant and Principal in the Toronto, Ontario office of Oliver Wyman. Mr. Théberge has over 20 years of actuarial, financial reporting, pricing and insurance company experience. 

He joined Oliver Wyman in 1996 and he has worked on various financial management projects using amongst other tools, GGY’s AXIS platform. These projects have included a variety of merger and acquisition projects, demutualizations, as well as traditional corporate financial and actuarial functions. Mr. Théberge’s primary areas of expertise include financial management of individual life, health and annuity participating and non-participating portfolios.
 
Over the last few years, Mr. Théberge has been actively involved in the U.S. secondary life settlement market. As a third party advisor, Mr. Théberge has been specifically involved in model building, pricing of life settlements, and portfolio valuations. He has provided advice on funding and liquidity requirements for institutional investors.

Other examples of Claude's professional experiences include:

  • An active role in several life company appraisals for transaction or corporate planning purposes
  • Knowledgeable in the Canadian regulatory environment as it pertains to the valuation and capital requirements for life insurance products, and is also familiar with Canadian and U.S. accounting and actuarial standards

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Mr. Théberge was Associate Manager, Individual Life Financial for the Canadian operations of the Prudential Insurance Company of America. He was responsible for the review of the appropriateness of the dividend board letter, the Canadian statutory valuation and solvency of Prudential’s Individual line of business ($CDN 2 billion).

Claude is an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and a post degree diploma in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo.
