Come prepared and look the part
- Arrive early.
- Bring pens and paper.
- Dress professionally.
Think before you speak.
- After hearing the question, ask for time to reflect and think.
- Think out loud, but in a structured and logical manner.
Ask questions!
- Remember that you will often only get information if you ask for it.
- Ask intelligent, specific questions with a logical purpose in your analysis. For example: “These products could be sold over a web site. Do we have one?”
- Avoid open-ended questions, such as “How are they selling these products?”
Work with your interviewer.
- Be attentive to cues your interviewer may give. How will the new information change your analysis?
Use numbers.
- Demonstrate strong quantitative skills. Be careful with simple calculations.
Tie it all together.
- Focus on the important issues, tying them together in a final conclusion.
