Strategic IT & Operations Practice Engagement Managers
Oliver Wyman is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for senior consultant and engagement management positions within our Strategic IT & Operations practice. Interested individuals should have extraordinary intellectual capability, maturity, and judgment, as demonstrated by their professional experience, academic achievements, and extracurricular responsibilities. Successful candidates must exhibit intellectual curiosity, including the ability to quickly assimilate knowledge, comfort with quantitative techniques, excellent communication and leadership skills and be willing to travel for business. Oliver Wyman hires consultants with the prospect of career progression to the Partnership. While many staff have post-graduate degrees, an MBA degree is not required for promotion. The Position
Successful candidates will act as engagement managers leading client engagements involving the strategic analysis and applications of IT for financial institutions. They will manage cross-functional teams of consultants, ensure the highest quality of work delivery, and coordinate the relationship with client teams. From Day One, the successful candidate will be expected to assume broad responsibilities, including management of client teams, determining the appropriate analyses and approaches to address a client concern, and providing thought leadership and creative insight to client problems. Experienced Consultant & Engagement Manager – Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of management consulting experience in a top tier management consulting firm, IT strategic consulting firm, or IT strategy department of a leading financial services institution
- Expertise in at least 2 or three strategic IT areas (e.g., IT strategy, IT investment portfolio analysis, Business-IT alignment, IT spend reduction, IT reorganization, M&A IT, data architecture, SOA, IT sourcing, IT complexity reduction)
- Experience in at least one or two financial services areas (specifically in corporate & investment banking, asset management, retail banking, insurance (life, P&C, health), finance & risk)
- Excellent analytical skills and critical reasoning
- Proven excellence at managing teams
- Providing thought leadership and creative insights to client problems
- Strong interpersonal skills, including entrepreneurial drive, a team-player attitude, and the highest level of professional integrity
- In addition, the ideal candidate will have a variety of the following skills, with particular expertise in at least one area: IT strategy; IT value economics and real options; IT cost restructuring; IT organizational design or reconfiguration; technology renewal and program management; and/or expertise in specific technologies in the financial industry, such as CRM, risk metrics, or data warehousing.
