Oliver Wyman is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for senior consultant and engagement management positions within our Retail & Business Banking Practice (RBB). Interested individuals should have extraordinary intellectual capability, maturity, and judgment, as demonstrated by their professional experience and academic achievements. Successful candidates must exhibit intellectual curiosity, including the ability to quickly assimilate knowledge, comfort with quantitative techniques, and excellent communication and leadership skills. Oliver Wyman hires consultants with the prospect of career progression to Partnership. While many staff have post-graduate degrees, an MBA degree is not required for promotion. The Practice – Retail and Business Banking (RBB)
Oliver Wyman’s Retail and Business Banking Practice addresses the needs of financial services providers serving personal, private and small to mid-sized business customers. These providers typically have much in common: widespread distribution; large numbers of individual clients; complex support processes; and intense competitive pressures. Our clients include top universal banks, regional banks, monolines, finance companies, wealth managers, & insurers

The Consultant’s Role
A project team usually comprises two partners, a senior engagement manager/junior engagement manager and 2-4 consultants. The non-Partner team members typically vary in level of experience, and work on only one project at a time. Your role will develop in accordance with your experience, maturity, and ambition and will not be limited by artificial titles or barriers. Oliver Wyman is a true meritocracy in which each consultant is given as much responsibility as he or she can handle.
Available Positions
Junior Engagement Manager
Responsibilities include:
- Oversight of structuring and completing select project module(s)
- Guidance to more junior consulting team member(s) in planning analyses and research and distilling findings
- Significant client interactions
- Support to senior engagement manager and Partners for overall development and integration of findings into communications plan
- Expected to progress to the senior engagement manager level within 18-36 months
- Bachelors or advanced degree from top academic program
- 3 years+ professional experience
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in supervised and unsupervised settings
- Sound business insight
- Impressive career development & outstanding leadership potential
Senior Engagement Manager
Responsibilities include:
- Oversight of client engagement – work planning, communications, process management
- Balancing workload on project teams given capabilities and individuals’ development needs
- Guidance to team members in structuring analysis modules and client communications
- Lead, day-to-day point-person for junior and senior-level client interactions
- Collaboration with Partners in production and delivery of major presentations
- Effectively representing RBB Practice and firm to support business development
- Sharing team knowledge and best practices within RBB and across firm
- Expected to progress to Partner level within 3-5 years
- 5-7+ years professional experience, in or related to financial services; strategy consulting experience highly desirable
- Bachelors or advanced degree from top academic program
- Experience managing teams under pressure and strict deadlines
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in supervised and unsupervised settings
- Sound business insights and application of cumulative consulting experience
- Impressive career development & outstanding leadership
