James S. Wiener

James Wiener is a Partner at Oliver Wyman and Head of the Finance and Risk Practice. In addition, he is member of the North American Management Committee and the leader of the firm's Mortgage Finance Practice. With over thirteen years of consulting experience, Mr. Wiener has led a wide range of client engagements for the largest and most sophisticated U.S. financial institutions.

He consults frequently to leading regulatory bodies including the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Basel Committee and the FDIC. As an industry recognized expert on risk management, financial management and financial institutions best practices, he is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and forums including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the BAI Forum, RMA conferences and RISK Magazine conferences.

Mr. Wiener is also the leader of the Mortgage Finance Practice at Oliver Wyman, where his work revolves around helping leading mortgage banks, GSEs, investment banks and commercial banks develop and implement strategies to improve the growth and profitability of their mortgage activities. In particular, the focus of this work has been on financial management, capital management and risk management for mortgage banks.

Mr. Wiener has a Ph.D. in Physics from Princeton University with a concentration in High Energy Physics.
