For a U.S. Grocery Store chain, Oliver Wyman helped achieve a 4x improvement in operating profit and 15% sales growth. Our client faced stalled growth due to a disadvantaged product and store offer versus the competition, as well as the entry of Wal-Mart. By assisting our client in optimizing pricing and promotion, we helped generate successive rounds of internal funding. This funding was applied to improve store environment and product offer (tailored by location) and generated an ongoing profit engine.
