Oil and Gas Super-Major: Risk Governance Assessment
For an oil and gas super-major, Oliver Wyman was engaged to assess the risk governance of the company's risk and finance committees. This process included reviews of the reference terms used by key decision making bodies, the management information systems used to measure and monitor risk on an ongoing basis, and management's ability to "lead from the top" and instill awareness of risk issues. In subsequent phases of work, our firm has focused on enhancing senior management's ability to target risk issues earlier by creating risk management dashboards which are tailored to the financial risks of the key business areas such as E&P, sales and trading, refining & marketing and retail distribution.
