Market and commercial due diligence for a leading telecom operator. Oliver Wyman conducted commercial due diligence over a four-week timeframe regarding a telecoms group with mobile operations in 13 markets. We teamed up with a group of specialized advisors (legal, tax, financing, and technical) to assess the value of the enterprise. The scope of the commercial due diligence included all mobile operations and the following business areas: strategy & business plan, marketing & sales, and regulatory. The whole exercise was backed up by an extensive benchmarking exercise among comparable markets, as well as by site visits to 6 of the 13 analyzed markets. The commercial due diligence resulted in a detailed, bottom-up, 10-year business plan (per-market and consolidated for the group) to support the enterprise valuation. Additionally, the sensitivity of the value to different commercial scenarios served to assess the potential upsides/downsides of the operations. The findings of the team of advisors were consolidated in the valuation.
