Security systems provider: Business system redesign

Security systems provider: A few years after privatization, a former state-owned securities printing company faced a transition from print shop to innovative provider of security systems. Increased security requirements created major market opportunities, but the firm lacked the processes and organization to seize these opportunities. In addition, its cost structure had high administrative costs because of complex and redundant functions. Oliver Wyman’s first step was to reduce administrative costs by more than 20%, saving several million euros that could be used to build up new R&D activities, thus accelerating system development and implementation. Oliver Wyman then supported the client in adapting core corporate processes to the new requirements of the security systems market. In parallel, we realigned roles and responsibilities within the organization to foster more internal cooperation and seamless process execution. We involved most of the first and second levels of management to promote buy-in and anchor the new thinking.
