ACO Transformation: Strategies for Health Plans

The movement toward value-based healthcare may be gaining momentum, but few providers are yet ready to take on full risk-sharing contracts. And that means that in most markets health plans don’t have the option of working only with providers that are fully prepared for value. Indeed, many provider organizations will never achieve readiness without the active help and guidance of payers.

How does a health plan deal with providers at widely different stages in their evolution? Oliver Wyman thinks the key is to develop a sound overall strategy that focuses on getting providers to develop key skills and capabilities as quickly as possible.
