Habitat For Humanity

Setting a strategy for growth and success in Germany

Habitat for Humanity is an international aid organization that works for a world in which everyone has a stable, protective and dignified home. Since it was founded in the United States in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 35 million people improve their living conditions and thus paved the way for them to lead a self-determined life. The organization is active worldwide on all continents: through house construction, retrofitting and renovation work, through water, sanitation and hygiene measures, through disaster relief and prevention as well as through a wide range of advice and training on all aspects of building, health and housing rights.

The independent German representation of Habitat for Humanity, based in Cologne, supports the international projects and mobilizes helpers who are actively involved in construction projects abroad through a unique volunteer program. In addition to project work on site, Habitat for Humanity works as an advocate in politics and society in order to develop markets and products in a more sustainable and social manner.

Oliver Wyman's team has dealt very intensively with our situation and the issue. They helped us to better define and understand our target groups and to question and revise our positioning accordingly. The team of consultants managed the process well and enriched it with strategic thinking, extensive experience and clever questions. We were very positively impressed by the high level of motivation and the positive, team-oriented cooperation. We are very happy and grateful for the clear timeline that we have worked on in a targeted manner. I am sure that the measures will lead to success

Oliver Wyman supported Habitat for Humanity Germany as part of a six-week project in developing a strategy for corporate fundraising and planning specific implementation measures. Through a well-founded initial analysis, including the broader organizational network, current challenges were identified and solutions were formulated in order to achieve growth goals. In addition to the identification of target industries and pilot donors, the specific project contents also included the revision of the unique selling point and the performance promise to partner companies as well as the creation of a communication plan.

The project was carried out in close cooperation with the board of directors and technical experts from Habitat for Humanity Germany and involved other important stakeholders from the international network. Over the course of several workshops, they were closely involved in the creation of content and, with their instincts on organizational peculiarities and their specialist knowledge on the subject of "housing", had a decisive influence on the success of the project.

Oliver Wyman's team accompanied and supported us professionally with great commitment throughout the entire project. The jointly developed strategy for corporate fundraising helps us to be more efficient and help even more people around the world with innovative approaches

The developed strategy for corporate fundraising gives Habitat for Humanity Germany a concrete roadmap for increasing the volume of donations, among other things, by selecting and addressing promising donor companies and strengthening brand awareness in Germany. Through a clear assignment of responsibilities and an orderly process design, the employees of Habitat for Humanity Germany can henceforth drive the increase in donation volumes in a more targeted and efficient manner - and thus help disadvantaged people to find a stable, protective and dignified home in the future. With the help of a specific schedule for defined measures, Habitat for Humanity Germany was also empowered to start implementation immediately after the end of the project.
