Her varied consulting experience covers many aspects of life insurance financial management, including pricing, financial reporting, capital adequacy testing, business appraisals, demutualizations and independent peer-reviews. For the majority of these projects, she has built, modified or reviewed the actuarial models involved.
Examples of Rebecca's professional experiences include:
- Providing ongoing senior-level support for the Appointed Actuary of four life insurers. This includes staying abreast of the latest local and international developments in financial reporting and capital adequacy matters, and overseeing and ensuring the continued appropriateness of the actuarial models in support of financial reporting, business planning, capital adequacy testing and determination of regulatory capital requirements
- Performing external peer review for a reinsurer of XXX term insurance business, value-added, rather than compliance-focused, independent reviews of actuarial work performed by company actuaries
- Performing appraisals of life insurers for transactional purposes, building and reviewing models to determine the embedded value and assessing the risks, both for buyers and sellers
Rebecca originally joined Oliver Wyman in 1996, and rejoined in 2008, after having worked at GGY, the developers and marketers of the AXIS actuarial software platform, for 3 years. At GGY Rebecca was part of the client support team, responsible for help desk, training and testing of new AXIS functionality.
Rebecca is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
