The Guardian: Duncan Brewer On UK Sugar Tax

UK retail Partner Duncan Brewer has been quoted in the article “Coca-Cola to sell smaller bottles at higher prices in response to sugar tax” published by The Guardian.

His comments come after announcements from drinks companies on how they will respond to the forthcoming UK sugar tax, which include manufacturer A.G. Barr changing the recipe of their iconic drink Irn-Bru.

“I’m not surprised Coke is reluctant to reformulate. But they also have the negotiating power to pass the price rise on to retailers. I’m pretty sure they won’t eat the cost of the tax themselves. A.G Barr is a smaller player so less able to do so, so has had to take this riskier move.”
