Oliver Wyman partner Paul Beswick has been quoted in the Financial Times today discussing Amazon's move to slash the price of everyday items in Whole Foods stores once the acquisition is completed.
"The price cuts are “utterly unsurprising” but still serve as a reminder that Amazon’s entrance to physical food retail is going to hurt a little, at the very least. Pricing has a very direct short-term impact on profitability. Over the long term this becomes more about which of the grocers can absorb the shock best?”
