Giovanni Viani
Giovanni Viani is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Milan Office. He is member of the Partnership Committee and is Head of EMEA Retail & Business Banking.
During his tenure with the firm, he has served some of the largest Italian banks on a number of RBB, organization and governance themes.
His preceding role was as Head of Retail Banking at San Paolo di Torino, then Intesa SanPaolo, the 3rd and then 2nd largest Italian bank. There he led for two years the Marketing and Commercial activity for the individual, small business and private clients of the bank.
Prior to that, from 1990 to 2005, Giovanni was a consultant at McKinsey & Co., where his work focused on financial institutions. He was elected Partner of the Italian office in June 1996 and Director in December 2002. During his tenure with McKinsey he served as Banking Leader in the Italian office and later Corporate Finance & Strategy Hub Leader. At a European level he co-led the Asset Management practice and led the Banking & Securities Change Management practice.
He started his career as a structured products specialist, serving corporates and financial institutions at Continental Bank, in Milano, in 1987.
Giovanni Graduated in Economics at Bocconi University, Milano, in 1986.
