Dylan Roberts
Dylan Roberts is a Partner at Oliver Wyman and the Head of the Strategic IT and Operations practice in the Americas, and was, until recently, a partner in the firm's Finance and Risk practice. Since joining the original Oliver Wyman & Company in 1989, Dylan has consulted on a wide range of strategy, organizational design, and risk management issues with universal banks, investment banks, and insurers in North America, Europe, and Asia. He leads much of the firm's work on risk organizational design, risk governance, and governance and compliance.
Recent experience includes:
- Redesigning the organizational and operating models for the risk, finance and compliance functions of a major participant in the US mortgage markets
- Evaluating risk governance weaknesses that led to investment portfolio losses at a multilateral lending institution, and recommending prospective improvements in risk measurement and investment decisioning processes
- Redesigning the corporate-level risk management function of a North American universal bank to address governance weaknesses revealed by recent losses related to CDO activities
- Conducting an industry survey on credit limit structures and limit management processes at universal banks
- Advising another large universal bank on risk management organizational and governance models, including clarification of Board vs. Corporate Risk Management vs. Business Risk Management responsibilities and design of Board-level risk reporting
- Conducting a survey of financial institution Chief Financial Officers and Chief Risk Officers, covering the evolution of these roles, the major challenges CFOs and CROs face, and approaches that successful CFOs and CROs are taking to dealing with those challenges
