On choosing Oliver Wyman:
Going into my last year at university, I knew Oliver Wyman had a very good reputation in strategic management consulting focused in the telecom market, and specifically managed a local start-up in nearby Rio de Janeiro. I would soon be graduating with a degree in Telecom Engineering, so I applied for an Analyst position, hoping to gain experience in the telecom market on the business side, as opposed to the more technical areas I was studying. I landed the job and joined Oliver Wyman as an Analyst in the Knowledge Center department that year.
On building solid career skills:
In addition to gaining a very solid background in the Telecommunications and IT industries, Oliver Wyman has helped me to achieve business acumen, strategic agility, the ability to make complex decisions and extract key conclusions. I have also honed skills in managing diverse relationships and driving work processes effectively. Additionally, I learned how to manage clients and lead them to the best solution.
On her current role and responsibilities:
I currently work as a Senior Associate at Korn/Ferry International, based in São Paulo. I focus in both Technology and Telecommunications markets, supporting clients by finding solutions in talent management for strategic positioning.
On what makes Oliver Wyman special:
Oliver Wyman is a great place to start a career. Consultants are given the opportunity to work with brilliant people, with very solid academic and professional backgrounds, at all levels within the firm. Additionally, you are in a position to fast track your own career, which is a good incentive to make the extra effort to move ahead.
On being an expatriate:
While I was an Associate in the São Paulo office, I had the opportunity to be expatriated to Spain for a two-year period. It was difficult to choose between pursuing my M.B.A. and having a long-term international professional experience, but I ended up accepting an invitation to join the Oliver Wyman Madrid office. I was given this opportunity by a Partner in the Madrid office with whom I had worked on a project in Brazil. Having the opportunity to work there was the greatest experience in my career, both personally and professionally.
